About the role

This locum opportunity is for an experienced Chief Medical Officer to lead the Emergency Department on night In‑Charge shifts at Maclean District Hospital throughout October 2026. The role involves overseeing patient care, supporting staff, and ensuring safe, efficient operations during overnight hours.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Emergency Department from 21:30 to 07:30 as Night In‑Charge.
• Supervise medical and nursing staff, ensuring clinical standards are met.
• Make critical decisions on patient assessment, treatment, and disposition.
• Coordinate with allied health services and hospital administration.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with hospital policies.

Required profile

• Qualified medical practitioner with current registration to practice in Australia.
• Significant experience in emergency medicine and senior clinical leadership.
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a rural hospital environment.
• Strong communication and decision‑making skills.
