Locomotive Driver – Full Time

About the role

Aurizon is seeking qualified Locomotive Drivers to join its Berrimah depot in Darwin. You will operate locomotives safely and efficiently, supporting freight movements across the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mainline, shunting and marshalling locomotives in accordance with safety and operational standards.
• Examine and certify trains for departure, conduct brake testing and maintain on‑time running.
• Provide high‑quality customer service to meet business objectives.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safety and ability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence and ability to pass pre‑employment checks, including a CAT 1 Rail medical.
• Freight Train Driver qualifications; yard driving or other rail qualifications are also considered.

Required skills

• Operation of locomotives on mainline and yard environments.
• Brake testing and certification of train readiness.
