Legal Counsel - Property & Commercial (In-House)

About the role

A major international business operating across accommodation, property and hospitality is recruiting two in-house lawyers on the Gold Coast through Peppercorn Recruitment: a Senior Legal Counsel and a Legal Counsel. The roles sit within an established national legal team and offer different levels of responsibility depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Advise a substantial Australian business with a diverse property and accommodation portfolio on varied, commercially focused matters
• Commercial property transactions, leasing and property-related advice
• Management rights, strata and body corporate matters
• Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, including franchising and accommodation-related agreements
• Provide practical legal advice to senior management and operational teams
• Work alongside other lawyers in an established national legal team
• The Senior Legal Counsel manages more complex matters, advises senior stakeholders and enjoys a high degree of autonomy

Required profile

• Lawyers currently in commercial property teams at law firms, or already in-house, are both encouraged to apply
• An Associate or Senior Associate looking for an in-house start, or a more experienced lawyer seeking a different environment
• Experience in management rights, strata, body corporate or franchising is advantageous but not required

• Good grounding in property law
• Commercial awareness
• Ability to give practical advice to a business
