Legal Counsel

About the role

Meltwater is looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its APAC legal team. The role provides practical, business‑focused legal support across SaaS contracting, media monitoring, privacy, data protection and emerging areas such as AI, working closely with sales, procurement, finance and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate SaaS agreements, master services agreements, order forms, statements of work, data processing agreements and NDAs.
• Advise internal teams on customer, vendor, partner and technology transactions and on privacy, data protection and information security matters.
• Support sales and procurement throughout the contracting process, including handling deviations from standard terms.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting SaaS, media monitoring, privacy and AI, and translate them into actionable guidance.
• Work with external counsel when specialist advice is required and contribute to legal and compliance projects across APAC.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) and an active licence to practice law.
• 5+ years of post‑qualification experience, preferably with in‑house exposure to technology, SaaS or digital‑services businesses.
• Proven experience negotiating and drafting SaaS contracts, including IP, data use, privacy and security clauses.
• Strong ability to identify and manage commercial and regulatory risk in a fast‑moving environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across regions.

Required skills

• Expertise in SaaS contracting and privacy/data‑protection law.
• Familiarity with media monitoring, content licensing and AI‑related legal issues.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management systems and legal operations processes.
