Legal Counsel - Commercial Real Estate Law

About the role

IFM Investors, a major Australian property fund manager with offices around the world, is hiring an experienced property lawyer to join its in-house legal team in Sydney. You will advise on a broad and sophisticated portfolio of Australian real estate matters, including some of the market's most significant property transactions, working alongside experienced lawyers and senior business stakeholders. The role is full-time with a flexible hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and property agreements, including confidentiality, consultancy, minor works and construction agreements.
• Advise on leasing matters, including landlord and tenant issues and disputes.
• Support property acquisitions and disposals, capital and co-investment opportunities, and investment mandates.
• Advise stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of significant real estate transactions.
• Maintain and develop precedents and other legal resources.
• Conduct legal research and provide practical legal training to business teams.

Required profile

• 6+ years' PQE in a leading law firm and/or a similar in-house environment.
• Strong experience in transactional commercial property law.
• Proven track record advising on high-value property acquisitions and disposals.
• Strong leasing expertise.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and give clear, practical, commercially focused advice.
• Collaborative approach and interest in joining a high-performing in-house legal team.
