Lecturer in Architectural Design (T&R)

About the role

The School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Queensland seeks a Lecturer in Architectural Design to advance teaching and research in architectural technology, digital design and sustainability. This fixed‑term position (up to 2 years) starts in January 2027 and is based at the St Lucia campus.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver innovative teaching across architectural technology, science and tectonics, linking theory with computational methods and real‑world practice.
• Develop a strong research profile, publish in international journals and secure external funding.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and contribute to curriculum design and new program development.
• Engage with industry, government and community partners to integrate emerging technologies such as BIM, AI‑assisted design and digital fabrication into teaching and research.

Required profile

• PhD in Architecture, Architectural Design, Architectural Science, Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Evidence of research publications, conference presentations and success in obtaining research funding.
• Experience in supervising Honours and research higher degree students.

Required skills

• Proficiency in BIM and digital/computational design tools.
• Experience with AI‑assisted design, sustainability analysis and building‑performance software.
• Knowledge of digital fabrication and generative design techniques.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, systems and detailing processes.
