Leading Hand - Mechanical (Fixed) - FIFO

About the role

Gold Fields is hiring a Leading Hand for its mechanical (fixed) maintenance team, reporting to the Supervisor - Mechanical (Fixed). You will supervise the effective execution of mechanical maintenance issues on site so that budgeted production targets are met while meeting quality, cost, safety and environmental standards. The role is offered on a FIFO roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with OHS and environmental standards and evaluate the risks and hazards of each task before starting work.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the maintenance team, including contractors, keeping them aware of tasks, targets and access to tools.
• Ensure the team applies effective preventative maintenance through scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting and timely repairs.
• Help train, develop and coach the team to improve capability, engagement, productivity and job satisfaction.
• Contribute to business and cultural improvement initiatives and encourage team members to identify barriers.
• Keep production running by ensuring critical parts and equipment are readily available.
• Help determine proactive maintenance plans and shutdown programs within your area of responsibility.
• Report safety hazards, environmental hazards, incidents, damage, breakdowns and potential plant stoppages to a supervisor as soon as possible.

Required profile

• Australian recognised trade qualification.
• Statutory Supervisor Schedule 26.
• Prior experience operating and maintaining a mineral processing plant.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Manual WA C driver's licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP work management system or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
