Lead Transport Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Transport Engineer to join Aurecon’s Transport, Land & Water team in Perth. In this senior position you will drive the planning, analysis and design of traffic and transport solutions for a wide range of infrastructure projects across Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, analysis and design of road, intersection, active‑transport and precinct projects.
• Manage and review traffic studies, impact assessments, network capacity assessments and microsimulation models (e.g., SIDRA, Aimsun, VISSIM).
• Provide expert advice to transport agencies, local governments and private developers, including workshop facilitation and presentations.
• Coordinate traffic inputs with multidisciplinary teams such as road design, civil, structures, planning and digital.
• Oversee technical quality, design standards and assurance from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Mentor and develop a small team of traffic/transport engineers.
• Contribute to business development, bids and new service offerings, including digital tools and workflow automation.

Required profile

• Degree in civil or transport engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in traffic engineering and transport planning on Australian or New Zealand projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead traffic inputs on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and engage with clients.
• Chartered status (CPEng) or a clear pathway towards it.

Required skills

• Proficiency with traffic analysis and microsimulation tools such as SIDRA, Aimsun and VISSIM.
• Strong knowledge of Austroads, Main Roads WA and local government standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentation.
