Lead Simulator Technician - Super Hornet & Growler

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Simulator Lead Technician for its Electronic Attack Training Support (EATS) Program at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland. The role manages and leads a small team of Simulator Technicians who maintain the Super Hornet and Growler aircrew and maintainer simulators. It is an onsite position requiring high dedication and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and lead a small team of Simulator Technicians in maintaining the Super Hornet and Growler simulators.
• Perform power-on and system initialisation and preparation so training devices are ready for use.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, including scheduled servicing, component removal and installation, visual and mechanical alignments, calibrations, network diagnostics and system troubleshooting.
• Achieve and maintain Maintenance Authority under the program's Maintenance Management Plan and document all maintenance accordingly.
• Take part in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives and comply with safe workplace standards.
• Ensure the security of facilities, information, equipment and systems.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Avionics, or Certificate IV in Electrical / Electronic / Information Technology.
• Five years of experience in maintenance and/or simulation environments.
• Ability to interpret technical publications, drawings and data, and to troubleshoot complex hardware and software faults.
• Experience managing a technical team or leading training.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of flight simulation systems and complex aircraft systems such as radar, navigation, instrumentation, electronic warfare and air-to-ground and air-to-air weapons.
• Knowledge of IT network fundamentals, diagnostics and computing equipment maintenance.
• Advanced practical knowledge of technical governance procedures.
• Working knowledge of engineering, configuration management and logistics support for Defence systems.
