Lead Cyber Security Architect

About the role

A federal government department responsible for accessible social, health and child support services and payments is seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Security Architect. The position is advertised through Recruitment Hive, based in Sydney NSW, with a hybrid arrangement and some work from home available.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business and ICT requirements into conceptual, logical and end-to-end solution architectures.
• Develop and maintain solution architecture artefacts aligned with ART roadmaps, enterprise architecture standards and technology strategies.
• Assess capability gaps against industry standards and emerging technologies and recommend solution options.
• Identify interdependencies and exercise sound judgement in ambiguous environments.
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, and share knowledge to build capability across the team and key personnel.

Required profile

• Baseline security clearance (QLD, WA, VIC, NSW, SA); EL2 equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex business issues within the cyber security domain.
• Experience applying Australian Government cyber security, protective security, resilience and architecture governance frameworks.
• Experience designing secure systems supporting critical government services, including system and subsystem boundaries, centralised monitoring, cyber security technologies and security automation.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of securing Azure, AWS and on-premises environments, including identity and access management, encryption, key management and network controls.
• Strong knowledge of the ACSC Information Security Manual, Essential Eight, Protective Security Policy Framework, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27001 and applicable privacy requirements.
• Ability to design secure architectures incorporating hybrid environments, zero trust, network segmentation and secure-by-design principles.
