LCMS Specialist – Analytical Chemistry

About the role

Eurofins is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist with deep expertise in liquid chromatography‑tandem mass spectrometry (LC‑MS/MS) to join its state‑of‑the‑art laboratory in Dandenong South, Melbourne. The role is full‑time, onsite, and focuses on high‑sensitivity analysis of PFAS, methamphetamines, marine toxins, and herbicides/pesticides.

Key responsibilities

• Design, optimise and validate robust LC‑MS/MS methods from scratch to meet regulatory standards (e.g., NATA, ISO 17025).
• Perform trace‑level analysis for PFAS, multi‑residue pesticide screens, and drug/metabolite quantification across diverse matrices.
• Manage LC systems (Agilent, SCIEX, Shimadzu) and triple quadrupole mass spectrometers, including troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration.
• Prepare samples using advanced extraction techniques such as SPE and direct injection.
• Process and review complex datasets using MassHunter, Analyst and Insight software.
• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with QA/QC protocols and safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related analytical science.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in LC‑MS/MS method development.
• Proven track record analysing PFAS in environmental samples and experience with pesticide residue or pharmacokinetic drug testing.
• Strong understanding of mobile phase chemistry, column selection and mass‑spec ionisation techniques (ESI/APCI).
