Laboratory Technician – Food Chemistry

About the role

Join Bega Group’s quality and product release laboratory in Port Melbourne, the home of iconic Australian foods such as Vegemite, Bega Peanut Butter and Cream Cheese. As a Laboratory Technician you will support daily testing of dairy and other food products, ensuring they meet the company’s high standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine analysis using HPLC, UPLC and wet‑chemistry techniques.
• Prepare reagents, maintain equipment and carry out internal calibration checks.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, validation reports and method documentation.
• Participate in problem‑solving, keep the work area organised and support method development and validation projects.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in a chemistry laboratory, preferably in food composition analysis.
• Proven ability to validate and implement test methods, including water‑ and fat‑soluble vitamins.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all business levels.
