Laboratory Technician – Environmental Testing

About the role

The Environmental Testing Technician will support the Snowy 2.0 pumped‑hydro project by conducting laboratory analyses of soils, rock and water. You will work in a safety‑focused lab environment, record and report data, and liaise with subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of soils, rock and water, following quality management systems and safety procedures.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and waste in accordance with regulations.
• Coordinate testing activities with internal teams and external laboratory service providers.
• Manage off‑site sample logistics, chain‑of‑custody documentation, and reporting.
• Enter data, generate test reports, and support continuous quality improvement.
• Assist with calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field (preferred).
• White Card (Construction Card) required.
• Experience working in a chemistry or environmental science laboratory, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong analytical chemistry knowledge, including sample preparation, titration and pH measurement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data management.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
