Laboratory Technician - Chemistry

About the role

ALS Environmental is hiring a full-time Laboratory Technician for its chemistry department at the laboratory in Kirwan, Townsville. The successful applicant receives on-the-job training in a wide range of technical processes, techniques and quality procedures used in a modern analytical laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse environmental samples
• Carry out preparation and analytical procedures in line with ALS Quality Work Instructions
• Organise tasks to maximise daily efficiency
• Complete all tasks within the supervisor's timeframe and the relevant analysis standards
• Flag anomalies in results and in sample type or behaviour

Required profile

• Genuine interest in science, with university or TAFE qualifications
• Attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills
• Understanding of good laboratory practice
• Ability to work well in a team and strong time management
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen or permanent resident, or valid working visa)

Required skills

• High level of computer literacy
• Coding or programming capability
• Interest in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting or 3D printing
• Interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation
