L1/L2 Engineer – Telecom Signalling Support

About the role

We are looking for a proactive L1/L2 Engineer to join our Sydney team, providing 24x7 monitoring, fault management and first‑level problem resolution for telecom Signalling Transfer Point (STP) platforms. The role involves hands‑on operational checks, alarm analysis and basic troubleshooting using a range of network management and command‑line tools.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor Oracle and other vendor STP platforms for alarms, performance degradation and service‑impacting events.
• Perform first‑line troubleshooting and fault isolation for signalling and network issues.
• Use HP TEMIP for alarm and fault management activities.
• Utilise Grafana dashboards for KPI monitoring, trend analysis and network visibility.
• Operate Nokia NAC tools to follow resolution workflows and support operational tasks.
• Access platforms via MML and command‑line interfaces to run diagnostics and recovery actions.
• Execute predefined troubleshooting procedures according to runbooks and SOPs.
• Escalate unresolved or critical incidents to L2/L3 teams with detailed logs.
• Maintain accurate incident documentation in the ticketing system.
• Participate in shift rotations within a 24x7 NOC environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic understanding of telecom signalling networks and STP environments.
• Familiarity with Oracle STP or other vendor STP platforms.
• Experience with Grafana, HP TEMIP and Nokia NAC tools is desirable.
• Ability to use MML commands and Linux/Unix command‑line interfaces.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with good written and verbal communication.
