Network Development Engineer – Edge Deployment

About the role

Are you passionate about building and operating networks that power some of the world's largest and most complex infrastructure? As a Network Development Engineer I at Amazon, you will design, implement, and maintain network components that directly impact the reliability and performance of systems used by millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate small to mid‑size network components and features, applying best practices to deliver secure, stable, and maintainable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), hardware and software platforms, and network operating systems, performing root‑cause analysis.
• Develop and improve network automation tools and processes to increase operational efficiency and system reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and internal partners to understand business requirements, assess technical trade‑offs, and ensure solutions meet customer needs.
• Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures clearly for current and future engineers.

Required profile

• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience applying IP protocols.
• Strong network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF.
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
