KYC Team Lead – Financial Crime Operations

About the role

Stake is seeking a KYC Team Lead to head its Financial Crime and KYC Operations team in Sydney. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality KYC outcomes at scale while balancing regulatory obligations, operational performance, and the company’s growth ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing KYC team, setting clear expectations and coaching for continuous improvement.
• Shape KYC operational strategy, translating business priorities, customer needs, and regulatory requirements into actionable plans.
• Produce productivity and capacity reports that give visibility into performance and pressure points.
• Enhance KYC decision quality through QA analysis and escalation handling.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design and implement automation and workflow improvements.
• Manage system, process, and regulatory changes with strong operational readiness.
• Strengthen relationships with KYC and identity‑verification vendors to reduce friction.
• Apply a commercial lens to KYC decisions, balancing risk, compliance, and customer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and developing operational teams.
• Deep knowledge of KYC processes, including CDD, ECDD, and AML at volume.
• Ability to set high performance standards, coach staff, and prioritize effectively.
