About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity, is looking for a Korean-speaking volunteer to spend time with an older person living in its residential care home in Wahroonga. The role is a social visitor, offering regular visits for a cuppa and a chat, or a walk around the grounds and a stop at the onsite café when the weather permits.
Key responsibilities
- Visit an elderly person in care regularly, ideally for a one-hour session.
- Spend time with them having a cuppa and a chat, or take a walk around the grounds and stop at the onsite café.
- Help improve the quality of life of the person visited and reduce their sense of isolation.
Required profile
- Fluent Korean speaking ability.
- Aged 18 or older.
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
Visits can be scheduled for a suitable time during the week, between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday, and can be weekly or fortnightly depending on availability. Interested applicants are contacted by phone or text, and then by email if needed; further information is available on the HammondCare volunteering website.
