Junior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an early‑career Backend Engineer to join our AI‑native team in Sydney. You will work alongside senior engineers building production‑grade services that power our enterprise AI platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Write code in Python and/or TypeScript and interact with databases.
• Contribute to our micro‑services architecture and help ship features to production.
• Learn and apply cloud, DevOps, CI/CD and data‑management practices.
• Use AI coding tools daily, review AI‑generated code and improve its quality.
• Write automated tests, fix bugs and continuously improve code quality.
• Collaborate with engineers in Sydney and Manila.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and problem solving.
• Experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Basic understanding of databases and API design.
• Track record of delivering software that reached production.
• Some exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or cloud environments.
• Quick learner, curious about AI‑assisted development and comfortable in a fast‑moving startup.
