Java Technical Lead – 6 Month Contract

About the role

The Java Technical Lead – Integration will design, build and support integration services that connect healthcare and enterprise systems on a 6‑month contract. You will deliver secure, reliable interfaces and APIs using HL7 v2, FHIR and other healthcare interoperability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, compliant healthcare integration services using FHIR and CDA.
• Senior Java engineering implementation of Enterprise Integration Patterns, leveraging SOAP/REST APIs, JSON/XML data formats.
• Integrate and deploy enterprise‑scale open‑source technologies, specifically Apache Camel.
• Collaborate with Platform and DevOps engineers to create automated CI/CD pipelines and manage code under DevOps and GitOps frameworks across Linux and Windows cloud‑native environments.
• Champion comprehensive unit, integration, and API testing using JUnit and Bruno, and performance/load testing via Apache JMeter.
• Support Agile/Scrum engineering teams, providing technical leadership, mentoring, documentation and high‑quality delivery in complex healthcare ecosystems.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing and delivering healthcare integration solutions using industry interoperability standards.
• Expert‑level Java engineering capability across enterprise integration frameworks and technologies.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Apache Camel and Apache Kafka in large‑scale environments.
• Proven leadership in Agile/Scrum teams, focusing on mentoring, continuous improvement and high‑quality delivery.
• Broad experience in testing practices including unit, integration, API and performance testing using JUnit, Bruno and Apache JMeter.
• Australian citizenship and a Baseline level security clearance.
