Java Engineer – 6 month contract

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Java Engineer for a maximum six‑month contract to design, build and support secure integration services linking healthcare and enterprise systems. The role involves developing robust interfaces and APIs using healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 v2 and FHIR.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) with SOAP/REST APIs, JSON/XML data formats, and Apache Camel.
• Develop and maintain integration solutions using HL7 v2, FHIR, and CDA standards.
• Collaborate with Platform and DevOps engineers to automate CI/CD pipelines in Linux and Windows cloud‑native environments.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and API tests using JUnit and Bruno, and perform performance testing with Apache JMeter.
• Operate in Agile/Scrum teams, ensuring documentation and continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with baseline security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience building secure healthcare integrations using HL7 v2, FHIR, and CDA.
• Strong Java development background applying enterprise integration patterns and API‑based architectures.
• Experience with Apache Camel and Apache Kafka in enterprise‑scale environments.
