Java Developer – Cloud‑Native & Microservices

About the role

Our State Government client is looking for a Java Developer to drive digital transformation initiatives. You will lead the design, development, testing, deployment and support of modern, cloud‑native solutions within an agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, test and support back‑end services and components.
• Write, modify, debug and optimise Java/Kotlin code to meet business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, development teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, implementing continuous improvements.
• Develop and maintain automated testing and validation processes.
• Deploy solutions using DevSecOps practices and provide operational support.
• Mentor team members on engineering standards, best practices and modern development approaches.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Back‑End Developer.
• Strong experience building microservices and APIs with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proven ability to design and implement RESTful web services.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of Domain‑Driven Design principles.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and Apache Kafka.
• Familiarity with containerised application deployment.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, evolving environments.
