About the role
An elderly Italian gentleman living in residential aged care in Bayview is looking for a volunteer visitor to spend quality time with him each week. Originally from Italy, he enjoys simple pleasures and would welcome someone to chat, share stories and perhaps practice Italian, even though his English is limited. The role is offered through HammondCare, which runs the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.
Key responsibilities
- Spend an hour or two each week with the client, such as playing cards, watching TV together, following NRL games and chatting over tea.
- Share stories about life and family and go for leisurely walks around the village grounds.
- Visit once a week or fortnightly, between 9am and 5pm.
Required profile
- 18 years or older.
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
- Availability Monday to Sunday; availability is discussed with the volunteer.
- Interest in meeting new people and in Italian culture or language.
