Italian Speaking Community Social Visit Volunteer

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity supporting people to stay in their homes, is looking for a kind and compassionate Italian-speaking volunteer in St Albans, Victoria. The volunteer spends time with an Italian-speaking client who lives at home and enjoys reminiscing about past travels, has an interest in engineering and takes pride in their cultural heritage.

Visits are simple and relaxed: reading aloud, looking through travel books together, listening to music or just having friendly conversation. The main goal is companionship and a shared moment of connection.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client once a week for about one hour, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Provide companionship through activities such as reading aloud, looking at travel books or listening to music.
• Share friendly conversation and make a positive difference in the client's life.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old.
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for one-hour visits for 6 months or longer, Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 5pm.
