IT Specialist – Hybrid

About the role

Raytheon Australia is seeking an energetic IT Specialist to join the Woomera Test Range Support Services (WTRSS) team. This hybrid position offers the chance to work on breakthrough defence projects, from concept through delivery, while gaining hands‑on experience in a high‑calibre environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system design activities and maintain architecture specifications across subsystems.
• Architect, develop and maintain scalable software solutions on Windows and Linux platforms.
• Integrate and support virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM and container platforms.
• Configure, manage and troubleshoot enterprise‑grade networking hardware and software stacks.
• Apply strong cybersecurity practices and ensure compliance with the Information Security Manual (ISM) and internal security standards.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Software, Engineering and Technician teams.
• Travel to the Woomera Test Range to support trial activities as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in ICT systems administration and maintenance.
• Proven ability to work independently in complex, regulated environments.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance.

• Windows operating systems.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM and containerisation technologies.
• Networking protocols and hardware (firewalls, switches, routing, VLANs).
• ISM compliance and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Programming/scripting languages: Python, C++, PowerShell, Bash.
