IT Application/Web Developer / Software Engineer (Multiple Cities)

About the role

This position is with a federal government client seeking experienced IT Application/Web Developers and Software Engineers to work onsite across major Australian capitals. The role involves the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design through testing and documentation, while adhering to security and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor software components.
• Apply agreed software development and security standards.
• Select and adapt appropriate development lifecycle models (predictive or agile) for each project.
• Participate in code reviews, identify defects and improve code quality.
• Support releases by diagnosing and resolving application issues and coordinating with DevOps and testing teams.

Required profile

• Baseline security clearance.
• On‑site work in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane.
• Experience levels ranging from 0.5 to 5.5 years, matching Level 2‑4 responsibilities.
• Ability to work within a 36‑month fixed‑term contract (with a possible 12‑month extension).
