Investigative Accountant

About the role

The Queensland Police Service’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group is seeking an Investigative Accountant to join its Money Laundering Unit. You will provide specialist forensic accounting advice and analysis to support major and organised crime investigations across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complex financial analysis of businesses, organisations and individuals involved in criminal activity.
• Provide oral and written briefings on intricate financial transactions and investigative findings.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures and techniques that enhance financial analysis capabilities.
• Act as an expert advisor during interviews, court or tribunal hearings, focusing on financial aspects.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders such as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other government agencies.
• Prioritise work and adapt to changing timeframes in a dynamic, innovative environment.

Required profile

• A degree in Commerce or Accounting from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Membership of CPA Australia (with CPA course completed) or Institute of Chartered Accountants (with professional year completed).
• Willingness to undergo psychometric assessment and obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 within six months of start.
• Ability to work across any unit or location within the Brisbane Metropolitan area.
