Innovation and Growth Editor

About the role

The Australian Financial Review (AFR), part of Nine, is looking for an Innovation and Growth Editor to report directly to the Editor-in-Chief. This newly created leadership role drives off-platform strategy to expand audience reach and boost revenue, leading a team of producers across audio, video, newsletters and social media. The role champions the AFR's journalism and grows its presence across audio, video and emerging media channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement off-platform strategies to expand audience reach and impact.
• Lead the audio team to develop new podcasts and deliver existing programmes such as Chanticleer and The Fin.
• Drive video strategy to open up new editorial and commercial opportunities.
• Oversee the AFR's newsletter suite to maintain high quality and maximise reach.
• Maintain oversight of social media and search strategy to reach new audiences.
• Collaborate with other Nine departments to develop new products or technology.

Required profile

• Prior experience in a senior newsroom leadership role driving quality journalism.
• Proven track record designing and executing off-platform content strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, support and develop content production teams.
• Solid understanding of current affairs, audience trends and relevant legal standards.
• Familiarity with business journalism and financial markets is well regarded.
• Must hold the right to lawfully work and live in Australia.

Required skills

• Expertise in producing different storytelling formats, including audio and video.
• Strong stakeholder management skills that balance editorial integrity with commercial goals.
