About the role
The Independent Certifier Representative (ICR) provides senior leadership on a major infrastructure program, delivering independent verification and certification that project works meet contractual, statutory and technical requirements across design, construction and completion.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the authorised contractual representative of the Independent Certifier, interfacing with the Principal and Contractor.
- Lead and own the design and construction certification processes, ensuring robust, timely and defensible outcomes.
- Establish, implement and maintain the Verification & Monitoring Plan throughout delivery.
- Direct and be accountable for the multidisciplinary Independent Certifier team’s performance.
- Oversee surveillance, audits, inspections and verification activities across all project phases.
- Provide senior technical judgement and independent assurance on complex matters while maintaining the highest standards of independence and probity.
Required profile
- 20+ years delivering or overseeing major civil infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; CPEng or equivalent accreditation desirable.
- Extensive experience in civil design and construction delivery.
- Proven background in independent certification, verification or technical governance roles.
- Experience working within government or principal‑led major infrastructure contracts.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and ability to make independent decisions on complex technical issues.
