Incident Response Crew Member – Sydney Southern Network

About the role

Egis is hiring Incident Response Crew Members for its Sydney Southern Network. Crew members give the initial response to motorway incidents as directed by the Motorway Control Centre (MCC) Operators, assisting motorists, operating response and recovery vehicles and equipment, implementing traffic controls and supporting the safe clearance of incidents in coordination with the control room and emergency services. Positions are full time and permanent, on a rotating shift roster covering 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Provide the initial response to motorway incidents as directed by MCC Operators
• Assist motorists and operate response and recovery vehicles and equipment
• Implement traffic controls and support the safe clearance of incidents
• Work with the control room and emergency services

Required profile

• Right to work in Australia
• Current unrestricted MR driver's licence and NSW tow truck driver certification
• Highly desirable: 5 years clean driving history
• Pre-employment medicals with drug and alcohol testing, criminal history and driver's licence checks, and psychometric testing

Required skills

• Construction White Card
• Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and manual handling
• First Aid including defibrillator use, Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) and CPR
• Confined space awareness with breathing apparatus and hazardous materials awareness with SDS
• Traffic controller certification and traffic control plans
• General evacuation and first response, major emergency exercises and incident response preparedness
• Road sweeper operation, towing and incident management
• Specialist fire training
• Stress management and fatigue management strategies
