In-Charge ED CMO - 7-Day Block (15-21 Feb 2027)

About the role

Critical Care Team is recruiting a locum In-Charge of Emergency Medicine (CMO) for Inverell District Hospital for a 7-day block from Monday 15 February to Sunday 21 February 2027. You will be the sole doctor in charge of the Emergency Department, providing care to high-acuity critical care patients with a wide range of clinical presentations. The hospital is supported by on-site anaesthetics, gynaecology and remote retrieval teams, and works closely with GPs and VMOs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency care as the sole doctor in charge of the department during each shift.
• Stay on site for the full shift, except for designated breaks.
• Handle on-call duties; locums presenting for more than 7 days on call must take 2 mandatory rest days for fatigue management.
• Complete 6 hours of SDPR training before starting, which is paid.

Required profile

• Primary medical degree and current AHPRA registration.
• NSW hospital paperwork (LHD specific), NSW Health online training modules and immunisations.
• NSW WWCC, indemnity, Medicare provider number and ID check.
• NSW declarations (Hep B, TB, secondary employment, Code of Conduct).
• Fellowship and CPD certificate if applicable, and references.

What we offer

• $3,000 per day for the 7-day block.
• Accommodation provided and flights or mileage travel costs up to $800 reimbursed.
