ICU Registrar – Critical Care Medicine

About the role

The ICU Registrar will join the Intensive Care Unit at Macquarie University Hospital on a full‑time, 1‑year fixed‑term contract starting February 2027. Working under specialist intensivists, you will gain hands‑on experience with critically ill patients, rapid response medicine and procedural skills in a modern tertiary private hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, manage and review critically ill and high‑dependency patients under specialist supervision.
• Participate in daily ICU ward rounds, handovers, admissions and Code Blue responses across the hospital.
• Develop and implement patient management plans in collaboration with senior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to teaching, simulation, journal clubs and quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognised in Australia with General Registration (or eligibility) by commencement.
• Completed internship and at least one additional postgraduate year, including a minimum of three months ICU experience.
• Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, anaesthetics or acute medicine and a strong interest in intensive care.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
