HV Field Service Technician

About the role

Join Ampcontrol’s High Voltage Field Service crew in Townsville, Queensland. You will be responsible for statutory testing, commissioning and maintenance of high‑voltage electrical installations across mining and utility projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform HV statutory testing, commissioning and routine maintenance on electrical installations.
• Terminate, joint, repair and test high‑voltage cables.
• Service and troubleshoot HV and LV switchgear and protection equipment.
• Travel regularly to client sites (approximately 60% travel) following a 4 × 8 and 1 × 6 roster.
• Provide exceptional client and customer service while adhering to safety standards.

Required profile

• Committed attitude to safety and a strong safety mindset.
• Team‑oriented with the ability to adapt to fast‑changing environments.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible rostered hours.
• Electrical trade qualifications; HV Switching certificate is desirable.

Required skills

• Experience with HV & LV electrical switchgear and systems.
• Hands‑on experience with high‑voltage cable termination, jointing, repairs and testing.
• Knowledge of protection equipment associated with HV systems.
• Service experience in electrical trades or technical roles.
