Housekeeping Team Member / Outdoor Cleaner

About the role

TriCare, a provider of retirement villages and aged care residences in Queensland, is hiring a Housekeeping Team Member / Outdoor Cleaner for its James Ommaney Retirement Community in a Brisbane suburb. The role keeps the village clean, tidy and hygienic, covering indoor common areas and outdoor areas, as well as vacant apartments ready for resale. It is a permanent part-time position of 32.5 hours per fortnight, paid under the Aged Care Award 2010.

Workdays alternate weeks: Week 1 is Monday to Wednesday 9:00am to 4:00pm, and Week 2 is Thursday and Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm. The role reports to the Village Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Clean indoor common areas such as lounges, social and activity areas, kitchenettes, bathrooms and laundries, and entrances, corridors, stairs and lifts
• Clean reception, office and staff areas, and service areas such as the store and cleaner's room
• Restock bathroom supplies and remove waste to collection areas
• Clean windows, doors, external mailboxes, fences and outdoor furniture, and cobweb buildings externally
• Clean vacant apartments ready for resale, including floors, bathrooms, patios and windows
• Maintain waste collection and storage areas as clean, tidy and pest free
• Follow infection control guidelines, use chemicals and equipment safely, and keep stock control over cleaning supplies
• Report equipment faults to the Village Manager, respect resident privacy and confidentiality, and take part in emergency response and team meetings

Required profile

• Cleaning and service industry experience (minimum 2 years)
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety and safe work practices
• Excellent time management, organisation and teamwork skills, with an eye for detail
• Friendly customer service with residents, families and colleagues
• First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one on appointment
• Policing clearance as required by the Aged Care Act 1997, and willingness to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment

Required skills

• Knowledge of chemicals and their safety precautions
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and electrical equipment safety
• Customer service and communication skills
