Hospitalist

About the role

The South Island Hospitalist group, in partnership with Island Health, seeks dedicated Hospitalists to join a dynamic team serving Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals. You will provide 24‑hour medical‑responsibility‑physician (MRP) coverage for a diverse adult population, ranging from young adults to seniors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver acute inpatient care across a broad spectrum of medical conditions, including addictions, palliative care, geriatrics, and co‑management of surgical and rehabilitation patients.
• Participate in weekly CME rounds and support undergraduate and resident teaching at both hospital sites.
• Contribute to hospitalist‑run programs such as the Inpatient MAID service, Hospital at Home, and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short‑stay unit.
• Collaborate closely with specialist colleagues while maintaining a high degree of clinical autonomy.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Internal Medicine with a valid British Columbia medical licence.
• Strong interest in acute care and a collaborative team‑oriented mindset.
• Willingness to engage in mentorship programs and continuous learning opportunities.
