Hospital Medical Officer - 2027 Surgical Stream

About the role

Bayside Health is recruiting a Hospital Medical Officer for its 2027 Surgical Stream, a fixed-term full-time position of 38 hours per week based at Peninsula University Hospital and Frankston Public Surgical. The PGY3+ placement gives junior doctors exposure to consolidate their learning from PGY2 and build the skills needed for specialist training. Successful applicants are allocated to rotations in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Orthopaedics, ICU, Plastic Surgery or Urology depending on their interests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective, appropriate medical care commensurate with your capabilities, under the direction of more experienced medical staff (primarily registrars) and in line with delegated clinical privileges that vary by site.
• Collaborate with other health professionals.
• Take part in rotating rosters, including nights cover and relief.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent.
• Previous experience in surgery.
• Current general registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
