Hospital Assistant / Porter‑Cleaner

About the role

The Environmental Services Assistant supports nursing teams with non‑clinical patient care, including patient lifting, transport, and emergency response assistance. The role also involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital to help prevent healthcare‑associated infections.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient lifting, transport, and delivery of specimens, equipment, and consumables.
• Support emergency response teams as needed.
• Perform routine and terminal cleaning of internal and external hospital areas.
• Collect and dispose of waste, restock supplies, and ensure cleanliness of patient areas.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare facility.
• Ability to read and write English to perform duties safely.
• Physical capability to push or pull waste bins, patient beds, and trolleys regularly.

Required skills

• Manual handling of equipment and waste.
• Basic knowledge of infection control and cleaning procedures.
