Hi‑Rail Operator – Queensland Civil & Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Schwarz Excavations is looking for experienced Hi‑Rail Operators to support major civil, rail and infrastructure projects across Queensland. You will operate specialised rail‑mounted earthmoving equipment, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of projects in sectors such as renewable energy and transport.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the maintenance of rail track infrastructure.
• Operate hi‑rail vehicles in line with network‑specific standards and operational procedures.
• Follow all site, client and Schwarz safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure safe operations.
• Support a safety‑first culture through proactive participation.
• Accurately complete required paperwork and reports.

Required profile

• Current Construction Induction (White Card).
• C Class Driver’s Licence.
• Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical Assessment.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (desirable).

Required skills

• RIW Unit TLIC3045 operation – road/rail vehicle.
• Experience operating hi‑rail or rail‑mounted equipment.
