About the role
The role supports on‑premise and cloud‑based high performance computing clusters used by scientists in the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science & Innovation. You will work within a small HPC support team, collaborating with IT partners, project teams and research groups.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain new HPC infrastructure, including Linux and Windows clusters, storage systems and connected cloud environments.
- Provide day‑to‑day administration: user and batch management, performance monitoring, backup/restore, software updates and troubleshooting.
- Assist scientists with software management, container technologies, Jupyter notebooks and CI/CD pipelines to enable model runs and data processing.
- Contribute to strategy, planning and procurement for on‑premise and hybrid cloud HPC resources.
- Deliver training and knowledge‑sharing sessions to maximise efficient use of HPC and cloud capabilities.
Required profile
- Experience administering Linux and Windows HPC environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including researchers, vendors and IT teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for hardware and software issues.
