Heavy-Duty Fitter - Underground Mining (FIFO Perth)

About the role

A Western Australian mining contractor specialising in underground mobile equipment maintenance is looking for experienced Heavy-Duty Fitters for immediate work in underground mining operations in Mid-West WA. The positions are FIFO out of Perth and cover servicing, diagnostic fault finding and breakdown maintenance of heavy underground mobile plant.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-level mechanical servicing, diagnostic troubleshooting and breakdown repairs on heavy underground mobile mining equipment.
• Provide maintenance support for underground drill rigs and jumbos; previous experience with Sandvik (DD420 / DD421 / DD423i) and Epiroc rigs and jumbos is highly regarded.
• Liaise with maintenance and production supervisors on diagnostic outcomes, parts requirements and breakdown priority workflows.
• Follow strict safety guidelines and carry out risk assessments in the underground environment.

Required profile

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate as a Heavy Duty Fitter or Diesel Mechanic.
• Proven hands-on mechanical experience in an underground mobile plant mining environment.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including a clear drug and alcohol screen.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience maintaining Sandvik and Epiroc underground drills, jumbos and ancillary equipment is highly regarded.
