Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Road Trains & Mining Equipment)

About the role

Aurizon is looking for a qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join its Murrin Murrin Operations in Western Australia on a 2 & 1 roster flying out of Perth. The role maintains and repairs Aurizon's mobile plant assets so they stay safe, reliable and efficient, within a structured maintenance program covering planned and unplanned work.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on road trains and heavy mobile mining equipment
• Breakdown repairs and troubleshooting to minimise downtime and meet production targets
• Inspect, test and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems
• Change out components such as engines, transmissions, differentials and hydraulic systems
• Carry out preventative maintenance according to OEM and site requirements
• Use technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic information to find and fix faults
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders and equipment history
• Work safely and in line with site safety standards, procedures and legislation
• Collaborate with supervisors and leaders to improve equipment reliability and availability

Required profile

• Cert III in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent (mandatory)
• Experience in heavy diesel servicing, mechanical maintenance and fault diagnostics
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Commitment to safety and compliance with WHS standards
• C Class driver's licence (unrestricted or provisional)
• Successful applicants must pass pre-employment checks, including a mine-safe medical

Required skills

• Auto electrical diagnostic skills (preferred)
• Demonstrated computer and software skills
• Desirable: experience with Kenworth 509s and 510s road trains, WA900 loaders, Hitachi excavators and CAT graders
