Health Service Medical Practitioner – General Medicine

About the role

The Health Service Medical Practitioner provides patient‑centred clinical care across inpatient and outpatient settings at Kalgoorlie Health Campus. The role is designed for advanced trainees in General & Acute Medicine or qualified General Practitioners seeking advanced specialist training.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions in ward rounds, outpatient clinics and emergency care.
• Participate in a 9‑person rotating shift system with no on‑call duties and minimal overtime.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance.
• Engage in teaching, mentoring and continuing professional development activities.

Required profile

• Current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia (Level 3 or above supervision).
• Substantial training and experience in General and Acute Medicine, or eligibility for RACP Advanced Training, or Fellowship of RACGP/ACRRM with commitment to advanced training.
• Demonstrated communication skills and experience working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience in clinical governance, medical education, supervision and cultural safety principles.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Use of electronic medical record systems for documentation.
