Health Assistant (Nursing) - 10 West Ward

About the role

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is recruiting a Health Assistant (Nursing) for its 10 West ward, a 22-bed unit specialising in elderly, stroke and neurology patients. The Health Assistant works under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent, supporting Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses in delegated aspects of patient care across the ward. Permanent and part-time positions are available (1.2 FTE).

Key responsibilities

• Provide delegated aspects of patient care, including assistance with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, transfers and positioning, and elimination needs.
• Ensure patient privacy and dignity at all times.
• Complete delegated tasks accurately and in line with St Vincent's policies and procedures.
• Work within the parameters of the position description and the unit duty list.
• Contribute to positive patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Health Assistant (Nursing).
• Previous experience in healthcare settings.
• Current national criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to meet mandatory vaccination requirements, including the flu vaccine and the Victorian government COVID-19 direction.
