Head of Networks

About the role

blueAPACHE is seeking a senior leader to own the strategy, architecture, service design and delivery quality of its networking practice across a multi‑tenant client base. The role combines technical authority, team development and commercial ownership, ensuring a secure, automated networking fabric that spans campus, data centre, cloud and edge.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the network platform strategy, reviewing current MPLS, architecture and risk registers.
• Lead network automation transformation to improve efficiency, reduce risk and accelerate client value.
• Drive capacity planning, pre‑sales support and ensure proposed solutions align with core network platforms.
• Maintain the risk register, develop metrics and architectural blueprints, and act as escalation point for major incidents.
• Provide technical mentorship, cultivate cross‑business relationships and advise on vendor and solution decisions.

Required profile

• Extensive senior experience in enterprise or service‑provider networking, preferably within an MSP or multi‑tenant environment.
• Proven leadership in designing and operating secure networking (SASE/SD‑WAN/ZTNA), campus, data‑centre and cloud networks.
• Strong background in network automation, infrastructure‑as‑code and incident response against SLAs.
• Excellent client‑facing communication skills, able to engage both executives and technical teams.

Required skills

• SASE/SD‑WAN/ZTNA solutions (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cato, Cisco, Zscaler, Netskope).
• Campus & wireless technologies (HPE Aruba Central, Juniper Mist, Cisco Meraki, Catalyst, Wi‑Fi 6E/7).
• Data‑centre networking (EVPN‑VXLAN, L2/L3 fabric, firewalls, load balancers).
• Cloud networking (Azure, AWS, hub‑and‑spoke, virtual WAN).
• Core protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs/VRFs, QoS, multicast).
• Automation & observability (IaC, Docker, Ubuntu Server, network telemetry, Grafana, TSDBs, Tacacs, Radius, Syslog).
• CCIE certification or equivalent.
