Head of Human Resources (Part-Time)

About the role

This is a part-time, on-site Head of Human Resources position in Sydney CBD, open only to candidates based in Australia. The role reports to the CEO and covers the full employee lifecycle as the first point of contact for all people matters. The employer is a small but well-established, technology-driven organisation with a strong Australian and international presence. The role offers the chance to strengthen learning and development, organisational design and leadership development, and to streamline transactional HR processes with a dedicated budget for administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and implement HR strategies that support business growth and employee engagement
• Design and run learning and development programmes covering skills, career progression and leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor on complex people matters and foster an inclusive culture
• Ensure HR policies align with best practice and employment legislation
• Oversee hiring, attraction strategies and onboarding
• Guide executives and managers in building leadership capability
• Shape remuneration strategies and promote employee wellbeing and workplace safety compliance

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior HR generalist, ideally in an SME and with exposure to software development
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and complex case management
• Commercial mindset, able to contribute to leadership discussions
• Exceptional advisory skills, able to coach and support the CEO and senior stakeholders
• Proactive, improvement-focused approach
