Head of House – Pastoral Leader for Boys' College

About the role

Waverley College is looking for an experienced educator to serve as Head of House. This senior pastoral position will shape the wellbeing, formation and development of boys in Years 5‑12 across two campuses in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of House Mentors to deliver high‑quality pastoral care, wellbeing and student formation.
• Foster house spirit through assemblies, competitions, events and community engagement.
• Support the development of the Waverley College Graduate – a young man of faith, integrity and positive mindset.
• Partner with parents and carers to enhance student wellbeing, growth and engagement.
• Contribute to planning, delivery and evaluation of the college’s wellbeing curriculum.
• Monitor student progress, behaviour, attendance and academic engagement using data systems.
• Model Gospel values and promote the Edmund Rice ethos throughout the college community.
• Maintain compliance, record‑keeping and child safeguarding standards.
• Represent the house at key college events, co‑curricular activities and community occasions.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualifications and current teacher accreditation.
• Strong understanding of student wellbeing, pastoral care and behaviour management.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and support staff within a house or pastoral structure.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with students, parents and colleagues.
• Commitment to Catholic education and the Edmund Rice tradition.
• Sound judgement, attention to detail and a proactive approach to student support.
• Strong organisational capability and confidence using data.
