Head of Finance - FMCG

About the role

An established FMCG business is looking for a commercially minded Head of Finance to lead its finance function and play a key part in business decisions. Working closely with the leadership team, the role goes beyond reporting numbers: understanding what drives margins, the true cost of serving customers, the impact of pricing on profitability and where performance can be improved. The position suits someone who enjoys being close to the business, wants genuine commercial influence and is comfortable managing the day-to-day finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the leadership team on pricing, margin and investment decisions
• Lead commercial projects such as cost-to-serve analysis
• Own budgets and forecasts
• Improve working capital, focusing on DSO and reducing inventory
• Oversee month-end, management and statutory reporting
• Manage tax compliance and relationships with external advisers and auditors
• Ensure controls and processes keep pace as the business grows
• Lead and develop a finance team of 5

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualified
• 15 years of commercial experience and strong team management
• Experience in an SME or lean business environment, comfortable with detail
• Experience improving working capital and inventory performance
• Only candidates from FMCG will be considered
• Preference for experience in a multi-national business

Required skills

• Large ERP systems such as SAP
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
