Head of Department - Mathematics

About the role

Como Secondary College in Perth, Western Australia, is seeking a Head of Department - Mathematics. This is a permanent full-time position starting in Term 1, 2027. The successful person is accountable for the leadership, management and performance of the mathematics learning area, and leads programs that support students engaged in intensive arts training, recognising that academic balance, workload management and authentic mathematical engagement are key to their success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage staff delivering a range of courses and programs, ensuring consistent curriculum delivery, quality teaching practice and improved student outcomes.
• Build the instructional leadership capacity of the team.
• Lead performance management and development processes in line with Departmental policy.

Required profile

• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
• Valid Working with Children Check obtained before starting.
• Consent to a criminal history check and a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit.
