Head of Buying Operations

About the role

Carma is looking for a Head of Buying Operations to lead one of its most critical functions. Based at the Alexandria head office, you will shape the end‑to‑end buying journey, scale existing processes and build a high‑performing, customer‑first culture across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Buying Operations teams covering Customer Buying, Buying Customer Experience (BCX) and Inspections.
• Translate ambitious buying targets into clear team goals and monitor performance across the buying funnel.
• Own and optimise the Sell‑to‑Carma customer journey to improve conversion, satisfaction and efficiency.
• Identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements and drive automation at scale.
• Partner with People on workforce planning, hiring and organisational design.
• Support the launch of new Sell‑to‑Carma sites through capacity planning and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with Strategy, Compliance, Valuations and Onboarding to deliver cross‑functional improvements.
• Stay connected to frontline operations by attending inspections, visiting sites and spending time with the team.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large customer‑facing operations teams.
• Proven ability to turn ambitious targets into achievable goals.
• Strong analytical mindset using data and reporting to solve operational challenges.
• Willingness to travel regularly across Sydney inspection sites.
