Group Payroll Officer

About the role

Maas Group Holdings (MGH), an ASX-listed multi-national company active in Real Estate, Civil & Construction Hire, Construction Materials and Manufacturing, is hiring a Group Payroll Officer in Sydney. The role delivers accurate, compliant and timely end-to-end payroll processing across the Group using payroll systems such as Employment Hero, and reports to the Group Payroll Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll lifecycle: employee master data, timesheet and leave processing, pay calculations, payroll reviews, adjustments, reporting, reconciliations and finalisation.
• Ensure payroll outcomes comply with modern awards, enterprise agreements, employment contracts, statutory obligations and company policies.
• Handle payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG withholding, STP reporting and year-end obligations.

Required profile

• At least 3 years' experience with at least 700 employees.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and statutory obligations, including payroll tax, Superannuation Guarantee, PAYG withholding, STP reporting and Fair Work requirements.
• Strong experience applying modern awards, enterprise agreements and employment contracts to determine pay rates, allowances, penalties, overtime, leave and termination entitlements.
• Familiarity with STP, ATO reporting and year-end processes.
• Experience in end-to-end payroll processing in a medium-to-large, complex organisation.

Required skills

• Hands-on use of payroll systems; experience with Employment Hero is highly regarded.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles related to payroll, including accruals, reconciliations and general ledger interfaces.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles for payroll and employee records.
